ATI Technologies Inc. announced the the All-In-Wonder RADEON board, the newest member of the company’s All-In-Wonder series of all-in-one TV, Video and Graphics cards. Features include TV-ON-DEMAND Timeshifting and Gemstar-TV Guides's GUIDE Plus+ system, an interactive program guide (“IPG”). ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON uses only one expansion slot, as it replaces the functionality of several separate cards, including a high-end graphics and video board with DVI (Digital Video Interface), a TV tuner board, a DVD board and a Video Output scan converter box. The ALL-IN-WONDER RADEON 32MB DDR AGP card, backwards compatible for AGP 2X and fully equipped for AGP 4X systems, ships in North America at the end of August. MSRP will be $329 (US). The PCI version will ship in North America in September, 2000.

Rambus Inc. announced Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. and Rambus have signed a new patent license agreement for SDRAM, Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM memory and controllers. The agreement covers patents for fundamental aspects of high-speed memory invented by Rambus, which are currently being implemented in SDRAM and DDR SDRAM memory and controllers. Under the licensing agreement, the royalty rates for DDR SDRAM and the DDR controllers are greater than the RDRAM compatible rates. The agreement also includes royalties for SDRAM and logic that controls SDRAM, as well as a license fee for the entire agreement.

Microsoft Corp. said it will spend half a billion dollars to launch its Xbox video game console in what will be its grandest product debut ever as it seeks to unseat Sony from the top spot in the fast-growing gaming market. Expected to launch in the fall of 2001, the Xbox would be backed by a $500 million marketing blitz in the first 18 months of its debut. Announced in February, the Xbox will be armed with an Intel processor, an nVidia graphics chip, a DVD player and the ability to connect to the Internet.

There was an installation error in the Win 9x driver BETA version 6.01.015 released on July 26th. That error has been corrected and the driver has been re-released. It is available on the Matrox site.

Chaintech Computer has announced the launch of its newest highly integrated U-Boat 7AIV2 Socket A motherboard. This µATX model, which is based on VIAąs KT-133 chipset, features three PC133 DIMM slots and four PCI slots with NVIDIA's TNT2 M64 AGP graphics accelerator on-board.
