Check out the rest of our Playstation 2 Coverage Right Here.

For those of you who have been following this sick little narrative of my first day with the PS2, you might have been worried by my last post that things were going to get ugly. Indeed, out of the box, I had issues with some of Sony's design decisions, button placements, number of controller inputs, etc.

Rest assured. It starts getting cool now. All I had to do was plug it in.

For the hundreds of thousands of loyal game nuts that Sony screwed out of their pre-ordered units today, SharkyExtreme.com feels your pain. And so let us give you a heavily illustrated tour of the out-of-box PS2 experience.

Sony knew what it was doing when it programmed the boot sequence for what it hopes will be a convergence device. The PS2 boots more like a movie than a game console. A series of fade in/fade out screens announce this Sony Entertainment production from a background of blue galaxies and nebulae. Finally, more blue. The effect is very pleasant and catapults you into that feeling of being within more of a media environment (a cosmos of convergent possibilities, if you will).
