Yeah, election stuff, I know. I promised. Sorry, this I can't resist. Visit the brand new website Quarter to Three for a column by former Starcraft designer Brad Wardell and read about the game his new company, Stardock, is working on. Apparently it casts you in the role of a campaign manager managing a presidential campaign and all the fun that goes with it. Wardell amusingly admits that they almost cut features to get it done by now but opted not to rush it. He also admits that they really wish they had it on shelves right now too. Regardless, if they get it done soon enough it's going to sell like mad. Come on now; tell me you don't have MSNBC or CNN on more than anything else these days….

Prognostication Record: 8-5

Zounds! Horrors! Not only was I wrong last week in my prediction, the Panthers in fact killed the Packers, it hurts doubly bad because it kills the chances I'll be playing as the Pack in the playoffs. Cut me some slack, you think Madden 2001 or I could predict an amazing rookie like Hoover? Or that the Packer's D-line would suddenly turn into tissue paper last Monday night? I do the best I can! To add insult to injury I decided to go ahead and play the next MNF game against my sister-in-law's husband Doug Roberts, since he was conveniently in town at the time.

He took the Chiefs and I took the Patriots and I figured I'd go easy on the poor guy, he hasn't played in a while and …ahem… I do this professionally. During the first quarter it looked like it was going to be a cakewalk for the Pats. I scored a quick 7 and dominated on defense, racking up a sack and probably five hurries. He intercepted early in the 2nd quarter but nothing came of it but a punt. It remained 7-0 until the half as Doug got his bearings and finally started connecting with Grbac. In the third he scored and then scored again on two possessions, one of them from a horrific interception into the endzone from Beurline in the fourth quarter.

What clinched the game was a three and out for the Chiefs and then a blind luck punt that, get this, landed on my three and then rolled out of bounds at the one yard line! See picture below. This lead to a Safety and then a free safety punt. With that kind of field position the Chiefs managed to score effortlessly in the final two minutes. Should be an interesting game tonight as the Chiefs may win it 23-7.

Aarrgh!
