Wargasm... what a bloody great name for a game right? We last heard that name when it was used as a title for an L7 song (an early 90s grunge-chick band). But back to Wargasm the game. Flight simulation specialists Digital Image Design (DID) has told Sharky Extreme that they have, "…Something special on their hands". And don't let the fact that DID are the developers fool you- there will be no encyclopedia type manual. Wargasm won't be a hardcore simulation but instead an arcade style war game. DID feels that they've come up with a new definition in terms of a game genre, with Wargasm's blend of strategy, tactics, arcade style play and 3D combat. The attempt to mesh first person combat with a vehicle and a helicopter simulation is certainly ambitious and we're not 100% sure what this new genre is called, but we'll take 'Wargasm' thank you very much.
Wargasm will be the first game to use DID's next generation 3D engine called 3Dream™ technology, which churns out all sorts of snazzy hardware accelerated effects. Effects such as, fire, smoke (well you can't have the smoke without the fire eh?), changeable weather and real-time lighting will all be part and parcel in Wargasm. But it won't just be technologically advanced in terms of visuals as DID will also be implementing an acute physics model to add a touch of class to the vehicles/troops' response and feel. Force Feedback implementation, which is also being included in the game, should also add an extra 'touch' of realism to the control system. The game itself will not only support single player modes but also LAN/Internet play, which incidentally is the only way you're going to have multiple Wargasm's (DID's words NOT ours).
Set for an Xmas 1998 release DID also expects the game to be touted in the OEM market but till then; we'll leave you with some new shots (Sharky Extreme tasty and spicey™ certified of course).
