Digital Platoon
Project VI sounds like a futuristic sci-fi thriller right? Wrong. One couldn't be further from the truth, as this blend of 3D action/simulation should provide some seriously gritty warfare via the genre we all know and love (or hate as the case maybe)- the real-time strategy genre. Developers, Digital Platoon is banking on gamers lapping up multiplayer guerrilla-style warfare across an open landscape in the full glory of a real-time 3D engine. It'll be up against some stiff opposition in the 3D first person shooter department but Project VI will attempt to emphasize the importance of multiplayer co-operation. Co-operating wisely with your teammates will be essential if you're to progress over the scaleable 3D terrain (Vietnam as it so happens in this game). As is the case with many a 3D engine of today, Project VI's will have a full 'platoon' of special effects including, outdoor lighting effects such night flare, distinctive color tracers and raging fire support. Learning to combine the full might of the Navy, Air Force and Army will mean that tactical precision and timing will as ever be essential in a game of this genre. Vehicles such as the Navy's Huey UH-1C Seawolves, the raging PBR (River Patrol Boat), AH-1G Cobra, ATC (Armored Troop Carrier), ASPB (Assault Support Patrol Boat), PACV (Air CushionVehicle), OV-10 Bronco for Air Support, and Monitor for River Support will all be there for the games to 'experiment' with.
Missions will involve infiltrating behind enemy lines and kidnapping hostages for interrogation, planting mines and intercepting enemy conveys. To give you that added feeling of being 'there', Digital Platoon has also deemed it necessary to add in some jungle and animal sounds for 'added realism'. Unfortunately the sound track will not include Woolly Bully, These Boots Are Made For Walking, Paint it Black or Hello Vietnam. Fine we won't argue with that and instead we'll leave you with a couple of never yet seen before shots.
