Europress
In the games industry, Europress is most widely known for their "Rally" line of racing simulators. To date, Europress has developed 4 titles based on this series… a series which has sold well over a million copes worldwide. To say that the Rally series has been successful would be an understatement. Sharky Extreme was given an inside look at the fifth title being developed by Europress, Rally Championship 99.
Due out this spring, Rally Championship 99 will feature the ultimate level of realism to be found in a racing simulation. To insure this, Europress is seeking the help of Mobil 1 British Rally Championship Manager John Horton and the 1998 British Rally Champion, Martin Rowe, whose combined experience in Rally stems back over 20 years. Rally 99 will also feature a highly realistic physics engine and collision detection algorithms in order to simulate bumps, tumbling and interaction with the track and other cars as well 3D positional audio support.
Visually, Rally Championship 99 will please. The game's 36 courses are all based upon actual ordinance survey maps and thus deliver spectacular photo realistic models. The object textures are very crisp and will depict their surroundings in a believable manner. Europress is being extremely tight lipped about Rally Championship 99. We'll have more coverage of this game a little later on, in the meantime, enjoy these screenshots we managed to beat out of the development team.
