Might and Magic fans can finally take a deep sigh of relief. This E3, 3DO took the main criticism of their Might & Magic games to task and traded the old graphics in for a true 3D engine. They're so happy about it, in fact, that they've got two 3D games in the works (the other is Warriors of Might & Magic). The engine is actually the Lithtech engine from Monolith, and you can see in the screen shots what a difference it makes. Now characters have some depth, there are no blocky 2D quirks to them, and they even cast shadows.
Legends of Might & Magic stays true to the basic Might & Magic world and though it looks like an action game, contains heavy adventure and RPG fixtures. Numerous skills and ratings flesh out the depth and abilities of a character, such as swimming, athletics, speed, ranged combat, spellcasting and more across six character classes. You can venture alone through the single player campaign, or play cooperatively with up to six friends via Internet or LAN. In multiplayer, you can fight against 16 others in deathmatch or on teams.
