With Sir-Tech’s Wizardry VIII on shaky ground, perhaps Activision’s release of Wizards & Warriors is a boon for Wizardy fans. This party-based RPG is from D.W. Bradley, the principal behind Wizardry V, VI and VII. From the screens, it appears Wizardy players should feel at home with the game’s interface and perspective. Like most epic fantasy games, there’s a quest in the game where players must find an artifact to depose an evil overlord (when are the fantasy game makers going to come up with something different? Oh yeah, they did; it was called Planetscape Torment!).
The developers are promising about 120 hours of gameplay, and we’re not sure if that’s a good thing (terrific or tedious?). But this is the second E3 we’ve seen the game at and we didn’t see the monsters we saw last year that looked like topless dancers. Catering to adolescent boys that spend way too much time indoors…yeah, that should sell a few copies, if Heuristic Park didn’t take them out. Jokes aside, this should keep the die-hard jobless RPGers busy for about a week.
