Mucky Foot's next title for Eidos shows definite influence from their Urban Chaos title. Taking place among the stars instead of city streets, Startopia is a science fiction strategy game with some new perspectives. Your job is to help build civilizations in space that live in donut shaped (mmmm…donuts) space stations called Torus.

Your stations must support the nine different races of the Startopia universe, and that's where you might recognize traces of Urban Chaos. Each alien is an individual with its own animation, history, and personality. Taking efforts to make non-player characters more realistic than Urban Chaos did, however, Mucky Foot says the station residents are part of a functioning society with a working economy. You'll be able to build different variations of the forty buildings, control economic trade, scientific research, and espionage efforts. You're supposed to be able to choose between economic and military methods of dealing with your competition in the game (yeah right, show us a strategy game that didn't involve firing a single shot). From what we've seen, you'll be able to take a citizen's view of life on the three-level stations. It looks like Mucky Foot is trying to create a blend of Urban Chaos, Alpha Centauri, and Sim City. Sounds great, but is it too ambitious to succeed?
