There's an interesting story in Codename Eagle, however, and your job isn't to just destroy everything in sight. In fact, you're to ultimately save Russia from corrupt leadership as Red discovers his nickname is really a link to his heritage.
Bloodlines aren't the only things red. There's blood spilled from the enemy soldiers Red guns down, of which there are many. The artificial intelligence of both enemy and ally, however, is poor. Sentries will stand motionless and only pursue you after you've shot them or get close. They fail to use cover and either run straight at you or in a zig zag pattern, though once they draw a bead on you they are fairly aggressive shooters.
Thus, Codename Eagle makes itself challenging by pitting Red against heavy odds, and by making it hard to target enemies. The game's darkness can sometimes hide opponents and the targeting crosshair is also very small and can frustrate with its demands for high precision.
Codename Eagle's armory includes staples like a knife, pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle, machine gun, grenade launcher, and bazooka, all recognized standards from most shooters. The two less common man-portable arms are the gas gun, which launches chemical canisters, and the flame-thrower, which burns objects at close range. While there is some variety here, most guns use the same ammunition, meaning that injudicious use of the machine gun or vehicular arms can render the pistol, shotgun, and sniper rifle useless. Action in the game is generally standard FPS point and shoot fare, except for one major difference: vehicle use.
